The effectiveness of the psychological framework underpinning the House Project approach in supporting young people leaving care. Academics from Universities around the UK have worked closely with The National House Project (NHP), Local House Projects (LHP) and young people to examine the implementation and effectiveness of the psychological framework that underpins the practice of NHP.

Energy Redress Scheme Update

18th May 2023

NHP are into the final 12 months of their ‘Care Leavers as Energy Champions’ project. This is a project funded by the Energy Redress Scheme and aims to educate young people around energy awareness and for young people to then train their peers. To start with young people designed and conducted a survey to find out from young people where support may be needed. The results from this have helped a young person's steering group develop ideas for resources and films to complement the project. In Autumn 2023 this group will launch a series of videos and podcasts made for young people by young people.

Held on Sunday 15th September, the Kiltwalk saw 36 enthusiastic walkers don their kilts and hit the streets, all in the name of raising funds for the provision of white goods for our young people moving into their first home. The event raised over £3500 which will go directly towards purchasing white goods and we would like to thank everyone who contributed to this great achievement.

EXploring Innovations in Transition to Adulthood’ (EXIT) Study

The evaluation report focused on identifying the key ingredients to develop and sustain innovation at a practice and policy level for care leavers. It highlighted six fidelity elements (co-production, base, relationship practice, learning programme, house and LHP professional team), three outcome domains (young people, organisation and innovation journey) and the five ingredients for establishing and sustaining innovation (co-production, adaption and learning, shared leadership, receptivity of contexts and outcome measures).
