We went to see Hussein first and what a delight, he greeted us with the biggest smile in his property with Guinness and a table of lovely fruit to welcome us in. Rachelann and Josh have never seen a tv so big in a young person's flat but he had a 70inch tv which he saved up for himself as we told him we couldn't give him £800 from his FHG to purchase this. However, Hussein was patient and he saved and got it put in his wall and it looks great. Hussein had his flat immaculate and everything well presented. He was very proud of his property and he had everything, in the right place which was right for him.
We then went onto to see Abduallah who was settled in his property in Stretford and this was in such a lovely and quiet location and so perfect for him as this really suited his nature. He had everything he needed and even had a photographer from Irwell Valley who took pictures of him in his own home and she will be writing an article of the success of a House Project young person in their properties. Well done Abduallah for making your property a home.
Our last stop was Daniel who is in a MSV property in the Sale area and his flat was so cute and set back in a lovely location. Daniel had a notice on his door which said; "Take your shoes off please" i commented and said that just shows how much respect you have for your home. Again Daniel had these lovely covers over his fancy leather sofa which he has taken a lot of pride in. It is so lovely and welcoming to see the lads settled in their home and showing their independence successfully. I feel like our little chicken's have left the next and are all now in their homes. Its lovely to see their transition but sad to see they don't need us as much.

From welcoming new partnerships and celebrating over 500 young people moving into their homes, to welcoming new Local House Projects and expanding the NHP team, we’ve seen real momentum in our mission to support care leavers.

Young people tell us that the House Project approach helps significantly, but we should never underestimate the enormous challenges they face at such a critical time in their lives. This reality was brought home to us recently with Sue’s decision to swap her working life at NHP for retirement caring for her new granddaughter two days a week. Even though Sue is fully in control of this decision-making process - something our young people often are not - the transition has still been discombobulating; letting go of something she enjoys and that has defined her, and moving on to something that will be incredibly rewarding and joyous.

This past year has been one of growth and recognition. We moved into a vibrant new office space, welcomed new talent to our team, formed exciting new partnerships, and continued to evolve as a learning organisation. National awards acknowledged our work, but our proudest achievements remain the deep, authentic relationships we’ve built and the sense of belonging that defines everything we do.
